The 2007 Toyota Prius Hybrid vehicle is already ready. The Toyota Motor Corporation, the mother that built this exceptional vehicle, made sure that it would bring forth new features and new options for the auto market for the coming year. And along with that, the company also decided on bringing up the tag price of this hybrid vehicle by 2.1 per cent, amounting to $450, from the price that it used to have. And along with that, the auto market should better be ready to meet the newest Toyota Prius Hybrid version.

Just like the previous Toyota Prius vehicles, the 2007 version would be made up of the best kind of auto parts Toyota. But now, the Toyota Prius Hybrid would hold a price of $22,175. This is according to a statement from the company’s California unit. As per the Toyota Prius Hybrid Touring Edition vehicle, it would now be sold at $23,070. But it would be the proud owner of larger wheels plus a much stiffer suspension.

When a business buys a long term fixed asset it is normal to depreciate that capital asset over a number of years to smooth out the effect on net profit. Depreciation being a management decision is not allowed as a deductible taxable expense and while being deducted to arrive at the management net profit is written back in the accounts for the calculation of tax.

Capital allowances are set by the government at fixed rates at which a business can claim the expenditure on fixed assets against the taxable profit. Prior to the financial year commencing 1 April 2008 capital allowances included a first year allowance at the rate of 50 per cent of the original cost for self employed and small limited companies plus a writing down allowance in subsequent years of 25 per cent of the reducing balance. The rate of first year allowance for medium and large limited companies was 40 percent of the original capital cost.

I have just watched yet another television program from NOVA. It explains that possibly a comet carrying microbial dust might have brushed by our planet 3.5 billions years ago. Then it deposited just enough primitive bacteria that initiated the life process that eventually evolved into one-celled animals such as the ameba. The rest took only incredible luck, environmental conditions, and Darwinian theory to become present day life forms. Along the way, the dinosaurs that covered the earth for 175 million years were apparently wiped out by a meteor that crashed into us about 65 million years ago. That event destroyed most of the common animals of the time and forced nature to “rethink” the large lizards and begin the age of the mammals.

If this past scenario seems a bit far-fetched, complain to the various scientists in the fields of biology, paleontology, microbiology, and chemistry that concocted these theories. The search for a plausible explanation for life on earth has consumed many brilliant theoreticians over the millennium. Of course the secular theologians would cast aside most scientific answers in favor of a more devout solution involving God, his mighty hand, the Garden of Eden, and Adam and Eve. Of course that still wouldn’t explain animals, insects, and the dinosaurs, but who can quibble with such details? After all, it’s in the Bible. I’m not anti-religion, I’m just pro-logic. There are major problems with a God that ignores evolution and starts out with humans that resemble modern man almost immediately. We have skeletal evidence of Neanderthal and Cro-Magnon that proves an earlier version of Homo Sapiens, thus putting gigantic cracks in the Biblical explanation. But the cosmic dust solution is also problematic as well.

Any place where the terrain is rough and the sky is blue in Dallas, Houston or elsewhere in Texas is a place you’ll probably find mountain bikers. The sport of mountain biking usually refers to riding bicycles, which possess particular design characteristics, off-road, although sometimes the term simply refers to riding a mountain bike.

It’s a tough, demanding sport that requires endurance, good bike handling skills and a lot of self-reliance. It’s an individual sport that can be performed almost anywhere. There are certain aspects of mountain biking that are similar to trail running, more so than regular bicycling. And, because riders are often far from civilization, there is a strong ethic of self-reliance. Seasoned riders have learned to repair their broken bikes or flat tires to avoid being stranded in the middle of nowhere. This reliance on survival skills accounts for the group dynamics of the sport. Club rides and other forms of group rides are common, especially on longer treks.

Al Gore put together a brilliant plan for the marketing of his Academy Award winning documentary film that tells the real story about global warming. Mr. Gore was recently selected by Media magazine as their person of the year, because of how effectively he used the media to try and save the world. (Media 3/5/07).
