The environment is the number one change driver; either for your personal change “program” or for organizational moves. The environment brings the necessary conditions for change. There is a paradox behind this relation because the change and especially growth of the same businesses also cause changes to the environment. Companies need more “land” when they extent their operation, to name just one relation.
The limitation of space is such an example that is quite obvious in the changing world. Not only the price of land constantly increases, but the simple availability of space is one of the biggest issues of our times. As a consequence, businesses and governmental operations are seeking way to change their operations. One solution is by using the “underground” space.
Such a change where the scarcity of land is more and more becoming an issue is one of the simple changes that is affecting our lives. But less obvious are countless of other alterations that go so slowly that we hardly get acknowledge of the change and… this is the point, we are not really able to anticipate the change.
It’s been a long time coming but finally governments are now talking about the need to embrace a carbon neutral policy. Over the last couple of years the term carbon neutral has become more and more popular and in fact it was the phrase of the year in 2006 as voted by The New Oxford American Dictionary.
In line with the phrase’s increasing popularity there has been an explosion in companies offering carbon neutral schemes to big business and the individual consumer. If you use airplanes regularly then you’re personally responsible for pumping many thousands of tons of carbon dioxide into the earth’s atmosphere.
“Can you help me with my marketing?” Charles asked.
“Maybe. Maybe not,” I replied.
Being a licensed financial adviser, Charles is under the close scrutiny of the financial institution he represents. And from the Securities and Exchange Commission. He cannot make any claims, statements or even produce marketing materials without prior authorization.
And this includes making presentations (if he decides to do so). He must send in a transcript of his message for approval before he can give it. His hands are tied in terms of creativity. Which poses quite a challenge when prospecting for new clients.
There are certain rules and principles that seemed to make sense in the past, during a time when reason and logic ruled. But today, in a very chaotic and ever changing world, evolutionary extinction is a constant real threat. In order to facilitate desirable change, we need to think seriously about creating the right set of conditions that can provoke the emergence of higher order possibilities through revolutionary concepts. The purpose of this article is to try to show that certain rules and principles can apply to the fields of personal growth, human relationships, business, professional and individual life.
Rule No. 1: Set UNreasonable Goals and Expectations
Prior to Norwegian explorer Ronald Amundsen’s discovery of the Northwest Passage in the early 1900’s, Arctic explorers were few. Robert Peary did tremendous pioneering research, mapping those previously unchartered sea lanes, beginning with his Greenland expeditions in 1886 and culminating with his North Pole expedition on April 6th 1909.
Amundsen and his crew took nearly two years to snake through the labyrinth of narrow lanes of frozen water and thick ice. Since this summer’s drastic and unprecedented ice thawing, the possibility of a shortened sea route– hassle-free and ice-free– poses serious environmental challenges for the region in the future. In the past the boats carried explorers and food mainly. Today their likely cargo is the most environmentally harmful substance known to seals and arctic bears–oil.
Your garden plants will flourish when given the right conditions. Some plants will only thrive in a hot, sunny area while others may need a cool, moist and shady area. You need to choose a garden spot that is best suited to the plants’ you plan to grow.
