HOW MANY The first thing to figure out is “how many diapers will I need?”. This will depend on how often you child need to be changed and how often you will want to launder your diapers. You will need to multiply how often you want to launder your diapers by the times in a day you generally need to change your child. Of course you will want 5-10 diapers as a reserve. Most new babies need 10-12 changes a day. Older babies only need 6-10 diapers a day, even older toddlers and children will only need 5 or 6 changes each day.

I recently subscribed to a free magazine called ‘Granville’, a magazine about sustainable city living. I received my first issue yesterday and the cover article was entitled ‘Addicted To Clean: The Dirt on Green Cleaners’. I was instantly hooked. Reducing my carbon footprint and being frugal oftentimes go hand in hand - for example, I’ve started turning my computer off at night in order to save money on our electric bill…which in turn reduces the amount of energy that must be produced.

Oddly enough, in the past few days I’ve been thinking a lot about how what I put down the drain affects the environment and had no idea where to start as far as reducing the pollution I create simply by washing a load of underpantaloons, or doing a sinkful of dirty dishes. If you are an eczema sufferer, you are one of the 15% of the population that has the disease. The cause of eczema is generally still unknown, but it is suspected that genetics, which contribute to immune system and skin barrier defects, are some of the important factors.

In many instances, allergies do not cause eczema, but are responsible for aggravating the condition. The food allergies that affect eczema are usually cow’s milk, soy products, eggs, seafood, and wheat. Animal dander, rough fabrics, and dust are the leading allergens that are in the environment surrounding us. Other places where allergens are found are in metals especially nickel and chrome. These metals can be found a lot in jewelry.
