Color plays a vital role in our mood, our ability to think and work and our energy level. Surrounding yourself with colors that inspire and seduce you to greater things is a wise investment in your environmental improvement plan. Here are some tips to get you started:

1. Paint is the first thought that comes to mind when dealing with color, and with good cause - there is little cheaper and easier in the realm of interior design than a fresh coat of paint, and almost nothing possesses it’s singular ability to so completely alter that aspect of a room or other living area as to render it unrecognizable to the original inhabitants. Paint can pull out architectural features that you never knew existed and conceal ones you’d rather forget. It can mask flaws, straighten bent angles, draw you in or pull you back. Buy the best you can afford (in paint, you really do get what you pay for) and leave your fears behind. It is just paint, for all of that, and you can always do it over again.2. This day and age everyone is concerned about the environment. It all started years ago when scientists discovered that the ozone layer developed a hole from all of the chemicals and emissions that we create. Many people now recycle and reuse paper and plastic in an effort to have a “greener” earth. There is much more that we can do to help preserve the earth, and it involves our wardrobe. That is correct, we can use our clothing to help the environment.

The first thing that you can do to help your environment is hang dry your clothes. Yes, I know, it takes time and is less convenient than just throwing everything in the dryer. The energy that dryers take is enormous, and reducing the use of electrical dryers can truly help the environment. Even if you use the dryer less often, you are helping the environment. Give it a try. Perhaps it isn’t as hard as it seems.

African Grey Parrots thrive on activity. In the wild they are very social amongst their own species and forage the forest in groups to search for food. They need to run around, climb, chew and play for most of their day. Their large size makes their need rather difficult to cater in captivity but one must nevertheless try their best to provide the best environment possible.

Choosing the Cage: Before you buy your bird you need to buy its cage. Choosing the cage should take the same consideration it takes selecting a bird. This will be your Greys home- its safe place. It seems incomprehensible that someone would buy a tame Grey and not provide it with a cage. There are very important reasons why every parrot should have a cage. It needs to literally know its place in the house, and know its cage is a refuge from danger to which it can return if it feels insecure. And, of course, its cage is a secure place in which to roost every night and a place to rest quietly every afternoon where it will not be disturbed. Without a cage, the likelihood of the parrot escaping is also greatly increased. The purchaser of a young Grey Parrot may be too excited to notice the important aspects of how their bird has been kept and fed.

Every teacher has a responsibility to provide a healthy learning environment for his or her students. Over the years, volumes of research have been conducted to help teachers determine what works best for the students. There is a wealth of methods and techniques that, through research, have been proven to improve the quality of the learning environment. Many different aspects of the learning environment should be considered.

A positive learning environment is one in which school staff, students, and parents build safe and peaceful environments where people feel accepted and respected and where learning is the main focus (Stratman, n.d.). Therefore, a positive school climate exists when all students feel comfortable, wanted, valued, accepted, and secure in an environment where they can interact with caring people they trust. A positive school climate affects everyone associated with the school, being the students, staff, parents, and the community. It is the belief system or culture that underlies the day-to-day operation of a school. “Improved school climate is a goal to pursue. Educators need to constantly work toward improving their school climate, culture, and conditions so that student learning is improved” (Noonan, 2004 p.64). In the last 30 year the range and choice of cleaning products has soared and the amount of chemicals in use has risen from hundreds to tens of thousands; and yet we still have no clear picture of the long term health effects of some of these chemicals. Allergies appear to have risen alongside the use of these chemicals; many are powerful irritants despite their use in household and cosmetic products. It is also worth mentioning that some common household chemicals have been found in breast milk, and may cross the placenta. Household hygiene is big business and billions of pounds are spent every year persuading you that you need to protect the health and safety of your family through the use of their products, whilst revitalizing and relaxing yourself with their fragrances.

Many (or most) of these products are unnecessary, and contribute hugely to environmental pollution, with millions of disposable ‘easy wipe’ products filling our landfill sites every day.
