Hitman Corporation unveiled an educational picture book called “When the Humans Came” at the Tokyo Contents Market 2008 exhibition. “When the Humans Came” was developed as educational material that uses an electronic web based picture book to project the sense of crisis that develops when humans destroy the world’s natural environment. The materials are available in both Japanese and English. The stories can be viewed on the web or ipods, iphones or other media players.
In the story, animals who have lived for many years on a deserted island tell a story that unfolds as they observe humans who have landed on their island. Two men and two women reach the shore of the deserted island and begin a new life on the island. Gradually the human population begins to increase as couples from different ethnic backgrounds also reach the island, and as a result, the island’s natural environment is destroyed. The story is illustrated with simple watercolor still images rather than with digital animation.
Hit Man is currently looking for possible markets in which to apply this method.
