It’s pain you wouldn’t wish on your worst enemy, lets alone our veterans. But now soldiers enduring treatment for severe burns are being offered a high-tech way of fighting the pain. University of Washington researcher Hunter Hoffman has developed a cool virtual reality game that has actually been shown to make the excruciating rehabilitation fun. Paul Simon’s music from the album “Graceland” is played during the game.

Dude thats awesome!
Not so much the burning, but the idea of a frozen world!
seee? video games are good for people. i would trade my ps3 for that headset thingy(if they up the graffix a bit)
To: Mr. Samuel Brown:
From: Julia, a Registered Nurse (Critical Care)
Jesus came to heal all, and used a variety of methods. This Virtual Reality, if it works, is a good thing, and God uses doctors to heal.
Not all thanked Jesus after He healed. You are thanking Him.
Thanks for being thankful, despite your pain.
That is a powerful testimony.
You will help alot of people with similar struggles, coming behind you.
My prayers are with you,
Julia, R.N.
“snow world is the opposite of …. fire”
LMFAO
They could use SuperTux for this too. Yesterday I had to house-sit for my brother while some shady-looking construction workers installed central heating and air but I had been awake for 12 hours and playing SuperTux on my netbook (no open WiFi networks) was the only thing keeping me sane that whole time.
So I guess here’s another great way to use SuperTux.
You people being jerks about his beliefs here would be the first to criticize a religious person protesting a funeral of an atheist or gay person. Pot, meet Kettle - you’re both blind to others’s real needs and experiences, and unbearably rude, while managing to totally miss the point of what is going on.
What Science can acheive is wonderful. Science exists, Guardian Angels don’t; that soldier was just very lucky to get out of the Humvee.
You probably would not respect the beliefs of someone who is 28 and still thought that Santa Claus brings presents. Belief in gods is the same thing. I respect the person - a wounded soldier gets my very highest respect for all he had done. I do not respect beliefs that come from nowhere (without evidence).
maybe god knows that hes strong, and can recover without being brought down emotionally. maybe some people that hear his story that need encouragement in recoveries of their own will be encouraged by his testimony. maybe you can be a little considerate and have a some respect for my brother’s beliefs. —at the very least— comment about the emphasis of the news, virtual reality assisting in pain toleration, not his ‘false beliefs’

wow! that is sad. but awesome too!
Once again, videogaming saves the day!
and videogames save the day again
Interesting Concept. I worked with burn patients at Parkland Hospital in Dallas and anything to distract them from the pain of stretching was a great advantage. I can see this would really be effective.
No, just intense against stupidity.
A little intense in your atheism?
Too bad his guardian angel didn’t prevent the injury in the first place. It must be incompetent … or not actually exist …
it was sarcasm, christ.
lol, they have also reported a ‘fun quotient’. In addition to pain therapy, researchers found that the game was fun.
Top awesomeness.
how is war awesome?
Paul Simon, cuz he’s cool.
war is awesome! : D
