Are you at an Autism School or a state-run school?
im not cerified =( but i have been trained as well as all the staff in my dept. i work with a certified consaltant and i go through the same process of videotapping and critcing only its in front of the whole school..check out the website and speak to a consultent near you.. they do come into the household but they also give u homework and mostof the time they will ask u to videotape then u both go over it together
i agree and you know what its a start, a foundation but with rdi u can take it to the next level out of a structured setting(work time)i would first start a co regulation activity, which u can see some videos of parents with the child on youtube- rdi-autism
Do you know much about RDI? We have the Gustein DVDs and we are considering doing the 4-day workshop in Houston next month but it would be such a disruption to our household for my wife to be away for a week. I would prefer having someone come in like our current ABA therapists.
My wife and I have been researching RDI for several months now and we are looking into incorporating it but we want to make sure that we do it right.
I do agree that the videos show him pairing with the TV. I have not shown videos of him pairing with the girls. He only uses the table about 15% of the time and it setting him up for natural environment. Some say that ABA is the best. I am hesitant in saying that even though my son has improved so much when we started. ABA is just one piece of the “puzzle” that we often talk about.
good to hear! its so much more fun and less stressful for the child and you and of course the family..and you can do anywhere any time.like i said before ill throw some verbal behavior in there also but i variate it in diff ways..its truly amazing
yeah why the table? u should be teaching the child that he can learn every where. i disagree with this who says u cant run and crash on a bean bag and then ask the child “whats your name? how old r u?(aba questions) hes not pairing with your voice hes pairing to the tv u have infront of him check out rdi..u can incorperate aba with it i know i do with a student who still gets aba through a diff agency other then school.
aba is the best treatment capture the MO or the reinforcer and you can control the consenquence , mo= abc
